What about using Rocks in the pool . Directing the Ray onto the rock at the surface of the water ? Or multiple lenses ? I’ve collected them with the intention of making mock skylights in my house. I just learned about this use for these so I’m curious? I thought about stump removal? Melting aluminum? Melting other metals ? Saving propane and coals /money ?

what you actually see is the heavier cold water dripping down because its heavier than hot water due to density difference. heat trasfer always move from hotter region to colder region and thats not what is happening as you can see.

If geared down and equipped with a flywheel, it might run a small Freon ac compressor… you could ac your tent or deer blind … maybe keep some drinks or insulin cold… I bet a junkyard Toyota Tercel or Yaris would have a tiny but dependable air conditioner… then you could get evaporator and condenser coils too… just a thought…

I tried this method and was struggling with it. I did however try using a candle flame to heat it and rotate slowly and then dip into ice water. The cute was really clean just had to make sure to have a score line on it. I tried the string method with alcohol as well works but the clean cut consistency was hit and miss.

You can buy just the caps and put them on any can. That's what graffiti artists do. Look up graffiti paint caps or fat caps.

Would probably have an application in some sort of solar project like for heating water or just keeping the corrosion away from wind turbines or other equipment that takes abuse
